Alison Procter SBA

Alison has been involved in various forms of art for many years including sugarcraft, but more of that later. After deciding to concentrate on her paintings she was elected as a member of the Society of Botanical Artists in 1989.

Over the years, working in watercolour, pastel and especially oil, she has broadened her subject matter to include landscape, still life and people, as well as the flowers she is so passionate about.

Alison’s love of flowers originally led her into Sugarcraft and after teaching people to make Sugarcraft flowers for many years Alison decided to write a book. The book covers most aspects of this craft and was written with the aim of giving people different ideas to help achieve more realistic results. The book is titled Simplifying Sugar Flowers and can be purchased at most good book shops. There is also a DVD available demonstrating the techniques she has developed.

After travelling all over the world teaching Alison retired to concentrate on her art but all the cutters and dusting powders required can still be purchased from AP Cutters who supply many cake decorating shops.

She lives in Bleadon, on the edge of the Mendips, with her husband Tony, where the wonderful scenery can vary from small boats on the river estuary to the stunning Somerset countryside.
